FBA Carton Labels and Product Checks Before Shipping Directly from China

Product compliance documents and certificate review for U.S. importers

Many ecommerce sellers want to send goods directly from a China supplier to an Amazon fulfillment center. The cost and speed can look attractive, but direct shipping removes one important safety step: the buyer may never physically see the first batch before Amazon receives it.

That makes pre-shipment checks more important. Product quality, FNSKU labels, carton labels, packaging, invoice details, and shipment IDs need to be correct before the forwarder collects the cargo.

Check the product before the labels

Labels do not fix a bad product. Before focusing on cartons, confirm material, size, color, logo, function, accessories, and packaging against the approved sample. If the first batch is going to FBA, small mistakes can become returns, account complaints, or stranded inventory.

Our internal article on handling failed inspections before balance payment explains why evidence should be collected before release. DDPexpert’s China quality control inspection guide covers how to structure pre-shipment inspection.

FBA checks before pickup

  • FNSKU or product barcode is correct and scannable.
  • Carton labels match the shipment plan.
  • Carton dimensions and gross weight are accurate.
  • Packaging protects the item during international freight.
  • Warning labels, country labels, or compliance marks are present if needed.
  • Commercial invoice and packing list match the cargo.

Do not let the supplier guess

Some suppliers are familiar with FBA, while others only say they are. Send the exact label files, packing rules, carton limits, and delivery requirements. Ask for photo evidence before pickup so the inspector or buyer can review each label type.

For label-specific issues, use our wrong labels and barcodes inspection checklist. If packaging needs redesign before scaling, DDPexpert’s custom packaging from China guide is also relevant.

Final recommendation

Direct-to-FBA shipping can work, but only when the product, cartons, labels, and documents are controlled before the goods leave China. Treat label approval as part of inspection, not as a last-minute warehouse task.
